On March 10, 2026, we met with our Green Party Member of Parliament, Julia Verlinden (Deputy Parliamentary Group Leader), to discuss child labor in Germany, asylum issues, and the plight of children fleeing their homes. She was very well-prepared and an engaged participant in the discussion. The Federal Employment Protection Act refers to positions and research by Terre des Hommes . In the Lower Saxony State Parliament, her colleagues have already prepared a motion regarding the monetization of the children of family influencers. After an intensive discussion, we gave Ms. Verlinden some homework: to familiarize herself with the current state of the Green Party's position in the Bundestag and to submit a motion to improve the situation for working children. Regarding asylum for children, we agreed that detention for migrants must be taboo! We also discussed the challenges of sea rescue. In conclusion: This evening was productive for both sides and will certainly be repeated.
