Our name "Terre des Hommes" stands for an "earth of humanity". Climate change, child labor, war and displacement - we make children and young people strong and protect them from violence and exploitation with our projects. We provide humanitarian aid and improve the living conditions of children worldwide. What is particularly important to us: We work with partner organizations on site and, together with children, enforce their rights.
As a child rights organization, we are independent of governments, business, religious communities and parties. We promote around 370 projects for children and adolescents in more than 40 countries. In Germany, around 300 volunteers are involved in about 80 locations with Terre des Hommes for children's rights. 6,000 young people are active for children's rights in our international youth network.

- Participatory : Children and adolescents, project partners, members and employees worldwide decide together on the strategic orientation of Terre des Hommes.
- Sustainable : We promote projects for protection and permanent improvement in children's living conditions.
- Self -effective : We strengthen children and adolescents in their right to participation and support them in standing up for their rights themselves. It is particularly important to us to strengthen the voices of children and adolescents who are discriminated against and marginalized.

How does the organization Terre des Hommes work?
Terre des Hommes Germany EV is an international child law organization and sees itself as a citizens' initiative - regardless of governments, business, religious communities and parties. The legal form of Terre des Hommes is that of a registered association.
The committees
The Terre des Hommes members meet every year for the general meeting. It is the highest body. The general assembly dials the Presidium every three years, and every two years gives it auditors. Their task is to check the economic management as to whether the legal requirements and those of the association's statute are observed and the income and expenditure are justified and occupied.
The Terre of the Hommes delegate conference takes place every five years. It decides on the strategic goals for international program work. The delegate conference is made up of representations of the partner organizations and the international youth network, the volunteer members and the employees in the federal office.

The voluntary auditors, which are elected by the Terre des Hommes general assembly, check every year on behalf of the association the use of the donations and the work of the federal office.

The federal office of Terre des Hommes in Osnabrück is divided into three areas. The program area coordinates international project work.
