Nicaragua: Strengthening the right to a healthy environment

Nicaragua is one of the poorest countries in Latin America. Many families lack the money to send their children to school. As a result, many children, especially girls, can barely read and thus have little chance of escaping poverty. Environmental awareness is also practically nonexistent: forests are being cut down, drinking water is polluted, and waste is illegally dumped.
