Entry opportunities at Terre des Hommes
To be eligible for an internship, you must be enrolled in a relevant degree program (ideally, you should have completed your undergraduate studies). Prior experience in the internship's field is desirable. The minimum internship duration is 12 weeks. We typically pay a stipend of €250 per month. You will generally have a regular work week from Monday to Friday, 38.5 hours per week, which we can arrange flexibly. In some departments, events may occasionally take place on weekends. Part-time internships may also be possible by arrangement.
Our interns receive an orientation at our headquarters in Osnabrück or Berlin (depending on their location) during the first few days and are provided with the necessary technical equipment. The majority of the internship is then coordinated in close consultation with colleagues, alternating between on-site and remote work. Interested applicants must therefore have access to internet for remote work.
Current job postings for working students can be found on our career website. A valid certificate of enrollment is required for employment. Our working students support us on a temporary basis with overtime, special tasks, or projects. Contracts are generally for a minimum of 3 or 6 months, but no longer than one year. If student status is still valid, an extension is possible as needed.
The pay is €15 per hour. During the semester, you can work up to 20 hours per week. During semester breaks, longer hours are possible by arrangement.
We currently do not offer any apprenticeships at Terre des Hommes .
Are you still in school, enjoy learning, and are you interested in the work of an international aid organization?
We offer a wide range of internship opportunities for students at our office in Osnabrück. During an internship, you'll have the chance to get a taste of the various departments within our organization and learn about different career paths:
- Fundraiser: A fundraiser ensures that a non-profit organization always has sufficient financial resources available. This includes acquiring donations, designing fundraising campaigns such as telephone and email marketing, and managing (major) donors.
- Consultant: Terre des Hommes has consultants for a wide variety of areas . For example, we have consultants for Africa, Asia, Latin America, or Europe who coordinate the work in our program regions or who deal with specific topics such as refugees and migration or humanitarian aid.
- Administrative Assistant: Administrative assistants support consultants in their diverse tasks within our organization.
- Human Resources Officer: A human resources officer coordinates the human resources department, writes job postings, conducts job interviews, writes employment contracts and pays salaries.
- Accountant: Our accountants keep an eye on the finances, book invoices, check incoming payments or carry out cost accounting.
- PR Officer: Our PR officers do everything they can to raise awareness of our organization and, in cooperation with the fundraising team, acquire donations. To this end, they create content for our social media channels, place advertisements, organize high-profile campaigns, and conduct press conferences with journalists.

Get involvedThe application process
- All current job openings can be found on our career website.
- Your application will first land in the inbox of one of our contacts, Janine Boldt or Gizem Bilgic, at jobs@tdh.de You will usually receive confirmation of receipt within 24 hours. We will then take some time to review your documents. We don't use an automated application tool and still review each application personally. If several people are involved in the process, this may take some time.
- We contact candidates who are a particularly good fit for the advertised position by phone or email. During this contact, we clarify any questions and arrange a meeting.
- We usually conduct the initial interview digitally and set aside about an hour for it. In a relaxed setting, we can get to know each other. Colleagues from the relevant department, the HR department, and the works council will also be present. This will give you a first impression of us – and us of you. If we both feel it's a good fit, we'll invite you to a second, in-person interview at our office in Osnabrück.
- After our discussions, we'll take our time to consider everything carefully. We'll make our decision based on established criteria. You'll definitely hear from us, either by phone or email.
