Cambodia still suffers from the consequences of the Khmer Rouge's reign of terror. Violence, corruption, and poverty plague the country. Impoverished families from rural areas stream into the capital, Phnom Penh, without any prospects for the future. Children rarely attend school; many leave their homes and live on the streets.
