Not only was the weather perfect on Saturday, May 31st, in the Kurpark, but the Lüneburg Child Protection Association and Terre des Hommes. As in previous years, they had invited everyone to play in a relaxed atmosphere, free from the pressure of competition or prizes. Among the activities offered were hopscotch, jump rope, sack races, egg and spoon races, and other familiar games of romping and skill that may have been somewhat forgotten. These games were especially inviting for children to try and motivated the adults to join in as well. The fishing games, the bubbles, and the newly added mouse race were particularly popular. Especially in times when we know that many children can only concentrate for short periods, it was wonderful to see how much stamina they showed at the various activity stations. After a while, it was the parents who were quick to urge everyone to move on.
Christa Holste from Terre des Hommes and Eleonore Tatge from the Lüneburg Child Protection Association thank all the volunteers from both organizations who contributed. They agree that they would like to organize this festival again next year: so many bright children's eyes, boisterous children, children in motion, children testing their skills with great enthusiasm!
