This time there was not only a great cake buffet, but also a very nice craft activity on children's rights
Last Sunday, the regioVHS (regional adult education center) opened its doors to us again, and many helping hands provided us with cakes and pastries. Our volunteer kitchen crew from the Delmenhorst City Volunteer Fire Department and their wives were also on hand. And the weather cooperated perfectly. This time, instead of new car models, there was a lively program of music and a fashion show in the center's forecourt, so it was no surprise that our outdoor tables were full the entire time. Those who preferred a quieter atmosphere enjoyed fair-trade coffee and cake in the center's cozy hall. The turnout was so high that long lines formed at times in front of the cake buffet, and we had to restock several times.
There was a slightly smaller turnout for our craft activity related to children's rights, where, following a suggestion from the Terre des Hommes Munich group, we made piggy banks with children's rights stickers. However, the children who participated were very happy with the result, as were we with the good conversations we had with them and participating (grand)parents during the activity. The Terre des Hommes brochures on children's rights, which we distributed generously, also generated a great deal of interest.
The financial result is sensational: the operator of the coffee shop will hand over €1,000 (!) to TDH.
