This year's day of action was dedicated to children's rights in general. Our questions sparked interesting discussions.
As in previous years, the Delmenhorst Adult Education Center has once again given us the opportunity to hold our event in their atrium. We are very grateful for this!
The audience at the adult education center is very diverse: continuing education for (older) adults is on the program, as is language training for immigrants. Therefore, in addition to a few posters about children's rights, we had prepared flyers in relatively simple language, and also our word search puzzle ready.
Based on the questions on the slips of paper, we had many further discussions about children's rights with course participants and instructors. What struck us was that women from all backgrounds were significantly more courageous in addressing the questions. Many of them were especially pleased at the end with the well-deserved children's rights card game Mau-Mau as a reward for the correct answers: "This is good for language learning for us, but also for our children," some of them remarked.
We were especially pleased with the building technician, who helped us set up the materials for the day and expressly thanked us for holding the event there. "Otherwise, nobody cares," he said. "But the issue is so important."
