Eleven young parliamentarians discussed children's rights and their relevance to their work.
The children's and youth parliament had allocated more than an hour of its meeting to the topic. Regina had prepared a short presentation combined with a few exercises. A lively discussion ensued: "What do rights have to do with us?", "Are they effective or just a paper tiger?", and "What is the situation with them in Germany?" were the main questions.
Finally, the discussion turned to youth engagement at Terre des Hommes and briefly to the children's rights trail that the city of Delmenhorst is planning on behalf of the youth parliament.
The young people who volunteer their free time for this important body are a vital component in realizing children's rights.
In the end, everyone agreed: it was a successful afternoon.
