Learning about children's rights

With our support, the Delmenhorst Children's and Youth Parliament opened the German Children's Aid Organization's children's rights learning trail in the garden of the Villa family center.

Brilliant sunshine and more than one hundred children accompanied the festive opening of the children's rights learning trail by the Children's and Youth Parliament and Mayor Petra Gerlach. The young parliamentarians had spent a long time examining the convoluted processes of the various city authorities: from design options, occupational safety and structural integrity, and environmental protection due to the old trees in the garden, to legal considerations regarding contract negotiations and, last but not least, financial considerations – everything was covered.

But now they have finally succeeded and are posing visibly proud with one of the signs.

The children's rights learning trail describes important children's rights on 10 panels and encourages children, young people and adults to engage with the rights through various questions and links.
