Given the cold weather, we had hoped for a large number of customers. Unfortunately, they were few and far between.
For several years now, the Ganderkesee business association has been organizing the Shredder Festival, also known as KNUTschen, in early January, in conjunction with a Sunday shopping event. For us, this is a good reason to end the sock season.
Since the thermometer showed well below freezing despite the bright sunshine, we moved our stall back into the entrance passage of the fair trade shop, whose staff thankfully provided us with hot coffee and cookies. Even there, it was extremely cold and drafty.
Unfortunately, the festival visitors concentrated almost exclusively on the market square, where they were offered mulled wine in addition to Christmas tree throwing. Very few actually looked in the shops, and even fewer made any purchases.
At the end of the day, only about €130 had been collected in the cash box and donation box. What a shame...
