Radio workshops in Córdoba

A voice for young people

In collaboration with schools, children and young people produce their own radio programs and podcasts on the community radio station "Radio SUR FM," learning to speak publicly and making their concerns accessible to a wider audience. Many of them come from families and neighborhoods affected by poverty. The station offers a space where these young people can share their experiences, choose their own topics, and see themselves as active shapers of their environment.

Participation and opportunities for young people in Córdoba

Villa Aspacia is a neighborhood in the southern outskirts of Córdoba: Limited recreational opportunities and a lack of future prospects characterize the daily lives of many children and young people here. Their concerns are often barely heard in society – and even less so in politics. The current economic crisis in Argentina, with its extremely high inflation, is exacerbating the situation. Families who already have to live on very little are particularly affected.

Together with local and regional networks, CECOPAL helps to raise awareness of political and social issues in the city. In addition to training young media professionals, the project offers artistic and sporting activities, academic support, and social work guidance.

Through the workshops and creative activities, young people learn to express themselves and articulate their concerns. At the same time, they acquire media and social skills that open up new career opportunities and strengthen their self-confidence.

This project is part of the "A Chance to Play" , through which Volkswagen employees, together with the Volkswagen Group Works Council, have been supporting projects for children and young people worldwide for 25 years. In cooperation with Terre des Hommes sustainable opportunities for young people are being promoted.
