Gaza: Healthcare for women and girls
In Gaza, many women and girls have virtually no access to medical care. Together with our partner organization, the Culture and Free Thought Association, and medico international, we therefore support a health center in Gaza City. It was established during the war and is a vital resource for many, providing medical assistance, advice, and protection.
The center provides women and girls with basic medical care and gynecological examinations. Pregnant women receive support before and after childbirth. Counseling on family planning, as well as sexual and reproductive health, helps them make informed decisions about their health. The center also offers a pharmacy, laboratory diagnostics, and referrals to specialized facilities.
The center also addresses mental health needs. It offers psychosocial counseling and group programs. Women and girls who have experienced violence can find a listening ear, legal advice, and assistance in accessing further protection services.
The project has been running since October 2026. Within a year, a total of 12,200 women and girls are expected to be able to use the services. This will ensure that a place remains in Gaza where women and girls can receive medical care, improve their health, and are not alone with their worries.
