Living sustainably together in San Pedro Atlixco

The community is severely affected by water scarcity, harmful farming methods, and pollution. The Puebla Community Foundation supports families in managing their resources more sustainably, protecting their environment, and involving children and young people.

San Pedro Atlixco is one of the most vulnerable communities in the state of Puebla. Water scarcity, deforestation, and a polluted river negatively impact the lives of many families. With the support of the Fundación Comunitaria, many positive changes have been achieved in recent years, such as in poultry farming and the cultivation of corn and avocados. Children here learn more about their rights and are introduced to organic farming practices.

The current project focuses on environmental education, healthy living, and sustainable economic practices. Children and young people participate in leisure and art days, plant trees, and develop ideas on how their schools and families can reduce waste, care for trees, and eat more healthily.
