Terre des Hommes achieves strong results for 2024
- Donation revenues rise to 27,482,376 euros (previous year: 22,938,058 euros)
- Co-financing (government project grants) decreased to €19,453,218 (previous year: €22,774,441)
- Terre des Hommes projects were supported with a total of €40,527,022 – more than ever before in the history of our organization
The year 2024 marks a critical juncture for international cooperation and the commitment to children's rights. While the de facto dissolution of the US development agency USAID alone jeopardizes the lives and futures of millions of children, we are also witnessing a process of dwindling solidarity in Germany and the European Union – particularly in three areas that directly impact children's well-being: firstly, increasingly entrenched resentment against accepting refugees; secondly, a debate surrounding the repeal of the German and European supply chain laws; and thirdly, plans to drastically cut government funding for international development cooperation.
"In view of the numerous humanitarian crises, such as in Sudan, Myanmar or the Sahel, we need significantly more resources to provide aid there as well."
Where other, previously reliable partners withdraw or reduce their commitment, it is more important than ever for us to remain firmly by the side of children and young people. We are therefore all the more grateful for the high level of donations received last year: total donation income of €27.48 million represents a significant increase compared to the previous year (2023: €22.94 million) and a similarly high donation result to 2022 (€27.99 million).
Thanks to the strong support of recent years Terre des Hommes has been able to maintain or even expand the scope of its project work for and with children, despite an increasingly challenging environment. With €40.5 million – the highest amount ever in our organization's history – we supported a total of 416 projects in 2024; most of them in Latin America (97), followed by South Asia (95), Africa (78), Europe (73), Southeast Asia (50), and the Middle East and North Africa (23).
