Our name, " Terre des Hommes ," stands for "Earth of Humanity." As an independent children's rights organization, we empower children and young people and protect them from violence and exploitation through our projects. We provide humanitarian aid and support projects with local partner organizations to improve children's living conditions – in a collaborative and participatory manner. Worldwide, we support approximately 400 projects for children and young people in 47 countries.

Team Lead Advocacy and Political Communication (m/f/d)
Your tasks
- Strategic and operational management of the political work of Terre des Hommes .
- Leading the advocacy team and communicating Terre des Hommes ' concerns and positions on children's rights in development cooperation and humanitarian aid, especially to the German Bundestag and the Federal Government.
- Reorientation of advocacy work in times of political change, sharpening of the organization's political profile, and visible representation of Terre des Hommes externally and internally in coordination and together with the spokesperson of the board.
- Performing the role of press spokesperson with a focus on political communication, closely linked to advocacy work.
- Coordination and/or representation of Terre des Hommes in strategic associations, networks and at relevant political events.
Analysis of relevant trends and developments regarding children's rights and civil society in German development and foreign policy as well as in the international program of Terre des Hommes .
What we expect from you
- Relevant experience in political work, ideally also in the field of non-governmental organizations.
- Expertise in the analysis of political decision-making processes and policies in the field of children's and human rights.
- They are familiar with the methods of civil society influence through lobbying and advocacy work and can draw on an existing network of political contacts.
- They often and gladly deal with social issues and political opinion-forming in the field of international cooperation (development policy and humanitarian aid).
- They are media-savvy, have knowledge of how media/social media works, and possess strong communication skills, e.g., experience with press releases, press conferences, interviews, statements, etc.
- Security and persuasiveness in external communication.
- Cooperative working style, team orientation and strong intercultural competence.
- They can express themselves eloquently in German and English, both orally and in writing.
- They are skilled in using digital tools for collaboration.
- Willingness to undertake occasional business trips both domestically and internationally.
- Children's rights are important to you and you share the values and goals of Terre des Hommes , as described in our guiding principles.
