On February 12, Red Hand Day and the International Day Against the Use of Child Soldiers, we sent a clear message: a red hand, an international symbol that in more than 20 countries worldwide, children and young people are killed, injured, or sexually abused in wars and armed conflicts. Numerous people in many different locations displayed this symbol of protest against this serious form of abuse. Our Terre des Hommes groups in Osnabrück, Stuttgart, and Bergisch Gladbach also collected red handprints and raised awareness about the plight of these children.
The political demands of Terre des Hommes and the German Coalition Against Child Soldiers can be found in the current press release: The German government must grant asylum to children from war zones and reverse the massive cuts to humanitarian aid !
