Osnabrück, February 7, 2023 – The number of dead and injured in southeastern Turkey and Syria is rising hourly following the devastating earthquake. To provide rapid assistance to survivors, the international children's rights organization terre des hommes is initially providing €50,000 in emergency aid in Turkey. Emergency relief in Syria is currently being prepared.
“Thousands of people have lost family and friends in an instant. They stand before the ruins of their homes, desperate and freezing. They need tents and blankets, warm clothing, food, clean drinking water, and medicine. We have initially provided €50,000 to supply them with the essentials. We are working with our local partner organization, Support to Life , which is familiar with the situation on the ground and is caring for those affected and the many children who are completely distraught and traumatized,” explained Friederike Strube, terre des hommes humanitarian aid expert.
