terre des hommes launches aid operations in Syria

Osnabrück, February 9, 2023 – The supply situation in the Syrian earthquake zone is dire, and the full extent of the destruction is still difficult to grasp. Millions of Syrian civil war refugees live throughout the region, having suffered for twelve years under the war and already dependent on international aid for their survival. The children's rights organization terre des hommes is launching its humanitarian aid program in the region around Aleppo, providing an initial €200,000, including €75,000 from the Volkswagen Employee Foundation.

“The victims of the earthquake are living in catastrophic conditions and urgently need help to survive. We are therefore very pleased that our long-standing partner, the Volkswagen Employee Foundation, has provided us with €75,000 to launch our relief efforts,” explained Joshua Hofert, spokesperson for the board of terre des hommes . “With these funds, we will provide for around 6,000 people in six collective shelters in Aleppo through our sister organization terre des hommes Italy. They are living in freezing temperatures and will therefore receive urgently needed blankets and mattresses, as well as hygiene products, lamps, and special baby supplies.”

terre des hommes will expand its emergency aid in Syria and Turkey as quickly as possible to help more earthquake victims. We urgently request donations for this purpose
