The Rotary Club Osnabrück donates 3,000 euros to the children's rights organization Terre des Hommes

Osnabrück, November 20, 2024 – Doing good for refugee children and young people in the Osnabrück region: On Tuesday, Stefan Burghardt, President of the Rotary Club Osnabrück, presented a check for 3,000 euros to Joshua Hofert, board member of Terre des Hommes . The donation will be used for the Osnabrück project "Free Time for Young Refugees".

The project is an initiative of the Osnabrück-based association Exil eV and is aimed at refugee children and young people from the Bramsche-Hesepe initial reception center. Within the project, they can, for example, explore their creativity, discover the surrounding area on excursions, burn off energy in indoor play areas, and take advantage of other sports activities. The goal is to offer a wide range of leisure activities and create spaces where they – far removed from their daily routine in the initial reception center – can clear their heads and simply be children.

“We are delighted to have Terre des Hommes – a globally active organization that is also active here locally – in our city,” says Rotary President Stefan Burghardt. “We want to promote acceptance of refugees among the population in the city and the region. Meeting people on equal terms, without prejudice, regardless of their residency status or country of origin, is an essential contribution to integration.”

Joshua Hofert expresses his gratitude for the valuable commitment: "The Rotary Club Osnabrück also makes it possible for us to convey a positive feeling of belonging to the children in the sense of an open and welcoming culture and to help them develop their individual potential."
