Red Hand Day activities

February 12th is Red Hand Day , the international day of action against the use of children as soldiers . This year, as in previous years, people in numerous locations drew attention to the fact that children and young people are killed, injured, or sexually abused in wars and armed conflicts in more than 20 countries worldwide. Red handprints are collected – the international symbol of protest against this serious form of abuse. The current political demands of Terre des Hommes and the German Coalition Against Child Soldiers are: The German government must grant asylum to children from war zones and reverse the massive cuts to humanitarian aid !

The German Coalition Against Child Soldiers, of which Terre des Hommes is also a member,...

...protested in Berlin in front of the Brandenburg Gate.

Terre des Hommes volunteers made a statement against war crimes and for peace in Stuttgart.

The Angelaschule in Osnabrück participated in this year's Red Hand Day.

The Nicolaus-Cusanus-Gymnasium in Bergisch Gladbach carried out an event for the entire school.

Members of parliament also gave statements in the Bundestag...

...their red handprint as a sign of protest.

The campaign is carried out annually by the Children's Commission.
