Riola Xhemaili is the new ambassador for Terre des Hommes
Footballer Riola Xhemaili is the new ambassador for the children's rights organization terre des hommes . She is involved in the "A Chance to Play" program, which aims to promote the right to play worldwide. The 21-year-old Swiss player has been under contract as a midfielder with Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg since 2023. She also plays for the Swiss national team.
Riola Xhemaili brings her passion for sport and equality to her work, advocating for equal rights in sport and the right to play, especially for girls. "Girls face many challenges, not just in sport. But there is also increasing acceptance for them, for example in football. If girls dare to take on these challenges, they can show everyone that they are strong," says Riola Xhemaili.
“We are delighted to have Riola Xhemaili on board,” explains Joshua Hofert, spokesperson for the board of terre des hommes . “As an ambassador, she will help to increase the visibility of our commitment to empowering girls and young women in our projects worldwide.”
VfL Wolfsburg, together with the Volkswagen Group Works Council, has also supported the program "A chance to play" for many years, in order to offer safe spaces for play, sport and culture to children and young people who grow up and live under difficult conditions around the world.
