Thousands of people in Gaza risk their lives every day to receive emergency aid - Terre Des Hommes and 171 organizations demand the protection of the civilian population in a joint appeal.
According to UN and media reports, more than 500 Palestinians have killed in the past four weeks while trying to reach relief goods. The humanitarian situation is dramatic: Many families are affected by hunger, violence and a lack of medical care.
According to the latest UN information, around 470,000 people in Gaza are considered acutely threatened by starvation, while almost the entire population-over 2.1 million people-suffers acute nutritional uncertainty.
On October 7, 2023, Hamas committed a massacre in Israel, in which around 1,200 people were killed and about 250 deported as hostages. Since then, according to the health authorities in Gaza, more than 56,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli attacks, including at least 17,000 children. A humanitarian catastrophe of historical dimensions.
Our local partner organizations continue to provide help under life -threatening conditions and are tirelessly committed to supporting the civilian population. The help for children in Gaza is urgently needed.
Our help in GazaBut what it needs above all is political pressure on the Israeli government to end the suffering.
Terre Des Hommes together with 171 other international organizations:
• An immediate and sustainable ceasefire as well as compliance with humanitarian international law.
• the protection of the civilian population and the unhindered access to humanitarian aid.
• The restoration of a UN-guided, coordinated auxiliary system that focuses on the needs of the people in Gaza.
We appeal to the federal government and the international community to do everything to ensure the care of people in Gaza with food, water, medical help and other vital goods. Humanitarian aid must be based on international standards and must not be hindered by military measures or political blockages.
