Our focus areas
We see our task in the following areas:
- Collecting donations for "our" TdH project in Zimbabwe
- Actions for the implementation of children's rights in Germany and worldwide
- Bringing joy to people, e.g., a magician's afternoon for children, a Gläbbich quiz evening, a concert, an art bazaar
Often, we can achieve several of these goals with a single action.
These are the issues we are particularly committed to in Bergisch Gladbach:
- A healthy environment for children
- Against exploitative child labor
- For family reunification of refugees
- Against the recruitment of child soldiers
We are happy to conduct events together with partners from our network.

Our project in Zimbabwe
Supporting street children in Zimbabwe
Creating life prospects for more than 200 street children and young people in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. Since 2001, TdH has been working with its partner organization Scripture Union Zimbabwe (SUZ) to provide tailored and sustainable solutions for street children. The aim of this project is to give 200 children and young people the chance for a self-determined future through psychosocial support and vocational training.
SUZ has been working on two levels for many years: children and young people are approached by street social workers and provided with meals and shower facilities in a contact center. They can also talk openly about their situation.
In a second area, children who have gained trust are taken in at the Thuthuka protection center and experience regular meals and recreational activities, as well as rules and daily responsibilities. SUZ has so far been able to support more than 1,700 children on their way to a self-determined future.
Terre des Hommes AG GL has supported the project since the beginning of 2025.
