Create publicity
Children's rights are particularly easy to violate when no one is watching and no one takes the children's side. We pay attention and publicize violations of children's rights. We receive many requests from schools, youth centers, church communities, adult education centers, and other organizations to provide information about children's rights.
We organize exhibitions, information booths, interactive events, and lectures. We enjoy brainstorming and creatively implementing new ideas for activities.
We make sure to provide the local press with good material so that the newspapers will pick up on our concerns and report on our projects. Because we want to encourage even more people in our region to stand up for children's rights.
Collecting donations
We want to support ' Terre des Hommes with as much money as possible. Therefore, there's a donation box at every presentation and information booth – every donation counts! Hand-knitted socks play a starring role at our sales stands in the region. A very special highlight of our campaign is our "visit from above" during the Christmas season. Whether dressed in red and white or adorned with a mitre and shepherd's crook, our Terre des HommesSanta Claus, or alternatively Father Christmas, is always a big hit. In December, and especially on Christmas Day, he brings little gifts to children and adults. worldwide projects
Involve young people
Participation is an important children's right. Therefore, children and young people are also directly involved with Terre des Hommes .
Every autumn, we recruit children and teenagers from youth groups. For one day, they take on the role of a street child and collect donations by offering small services such as shining shoes or selling small, handcrafted items.
Our promotional highlights
Every year, our very own Santa Claus, or rather Saint Nicholas, Daniel, brings joy to children, families, and seniors. He delights not only children and seniors locally, but also people all over the world. He collects donations that benefit the children in our projects.
Each visit lasts approximately 15 to 20 minutes. As a representative of a children's rights organization, the "holy man" naturally doesn't carry a switch, but he does have a thick "Golden Book" containing information about the children. Regina, our "Santa Claus manager," collects this information beforehand from the clients and prepares it.
The minimum fee for the gift-giving is €20 - of course, there are no upper limits for the "man from above" and every donation is very welcome.
We're always fully booked on Christmas Eve. Some families have been coming with us for years and immediately book again for the following year. We still have availability on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, as well as on other days in December. We're especially suitable for schools, kindergartens, and company Christmas parties. Interested? Cozy, warm, and colorful: Hand-knitted socks are the focus of our fundraising campaigns. Knitted with love and skill, and donated by many dedicated supporters. Interested in these cheerful socks? Then visit us at various markets in the region, such as the autumn market in Ganderkesee or the Festival of Lights in Delmenhorst. And always welcome: donations of yarn—especially sock yarn—and fellow knitters.
Now a good tradition: Every year at the beginning of the year, we are guests at the town hall of the municipality of Ganderkesee with a current Terre des Hommes exhibition.
The topics are as diverse as the situation of children and the project work of Terre des Hommes worldwide: The range of topics extends from children's rights, child labor, and children in war and on the run to the right to a healthy environment. We strive to make the exhibitions accessible to different target groups through supplementary activities such as guided tours or questionnaires.
At the town hall, our exhibitions reach many people who might otherwise be less interested in children's rights issues. This provides an opportunity for us to quickly and easily engage in conversation with representatives from the press and local decision-makers in a pleasant atmosphere, who are always happy to learn about our concerns and demands on this occasion.
Every year we give children and young people the opportunity to experience a different perspective: For one day, they step into the shoes of a street child. This opportunity is often taken up by confirmation candidates, members of the children's and youth parliament, or the youth fire brigade.
This gives them the opportunity to learn about the situation of street children. By selling handmade items or offering small services, they raise money for Terre des Hommes projects.
Learn more about the campaign
We collect stamps, coins, leftover holiday money, medals, and similar items. We then pass these on to our Terre des Hommesgroup in Hanover. They specialize in marketing collectibles to benefit Terre des Hommes . The proceeds primarily support projects for children in Africa. Learn more
