The "Equal Opportunities" alliance aims to empower children and young people growing up in poverty and to make their potential and future visions publicly visible. The Mainz Terre des Hommesgroup is a member of the alliance.
The Youth Culture Workshop and the Youth Art School support children in expressing and shaping their feelings and wishes loudly, boldly and joyfully: at the Gonsenheim district meeting, in the Kisselberg community accommodation, at Street Jumper, in the Blue Elephant and in the Laubenheim neighborhood meeting.
The artwork created by children and young people will be used to create an exhibition that will be shown in public places in Mainz (including the train station). It aims to raise awareness about child poverty and to publicly showcase the creative potential and future visions of children and young people affected by poverty.
An event focusing on municipal options for combating child poverty will conclude the project, featuring poverty researcher Professor Butterwegge, Mainz's social affairs director Schmöller, and the head of the youth welfare office from Offenbach. Offenbach adopted an action plan against child poverty last year.
