A huge games festival with a diverse program and important messages: That was the Children's Culture Summer (KiKS) Festival 2026 on Theresienhöhe!
Between science, sports, theater, art, and environmental protection, we from Terre des Hommes Munich, as educational stakeholders, couldn't be missing. At our activity station, everything revolved around the central question: "Children's rights – what for?"
Our participation was contingent on one clear condition: no fundraising, no traditional organizational advertising. Instead, the focus was on experiencing ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) firsthand. Anyone looking for a typical information booth was in vain. We had no printed tablecloths, no beach flags, and no informational flyers from our project countries. Our presence relied solely on the content: three interactive game stations playfully, engagingly, and informatively demonstrated to the young visitors that children have rights – everywhere in the world!
A huge thank you goes to our wonderful helpers! The two law students, Emily and Lena, as well as our long-time supporter, Bianca, led the stations with great enthusiasm and joy. They made children's rights tangible for the participants and presented them in an informative way. The children especially enjoyed beating their parents in our new children's rights memory game.
This festival has demonstrated the importance and effectiveness of playful educational work. Therefore, we are certain: we would love to participate again next year as ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) stakeholders at Theresienhöhe. We are already looking forward to the KiKS Festival 2027!
