Soft sounds and occasional louder ones drifted from the aisles around the Elisenbrunnen fountain. They piqued curiosity and invited the audience to linger. The Elisenbrunnen in Aachen was transformed into a musical stage when the string players from Hanbruch Elementary School gave a benefit concert for Terre des Hommes .
Under the direction of their dedicated string teachers, Illa Tönnies, Johanna Schmidt, and Kasia Gasztecka, around 30 children showcased their talent before an enthusiastic audience that loudly demanded encores. With their "Street Music for Street Children" initiative, the students raised funds for children living on the streets. The atmosphere of the concert was joyful and enthusiastic. The young musicians presented a diverse program ranging from classical pieces to modern melodies. Their dedication and commitment were rewarded with thunderous applause. Many spectators were deeply impressed by the elementary school students' musical performance and the successful organization of the event.
The annual concert at the Elisenbrunnen fountain has become a firmly established tradition – a highlight in the calendar of Hanbruch Elementary School and the city of Aachen. It impressively demonstrates how music, as a universal language, can connect people and simultaneously support important social projects.
