Bad Honnef: General Assembly 2025

On September 13th and 14th, 2025, around 50 Terre des Hommesmembers and several full-time staff members traveled to Bad Honnef for the 2025 General Assembly. Prior to the official assembly, a forum was held on the theme of "Impulses for Strengthening Civil Society," featuring Jan Wenzel (VENRO, Head of Civil Society Strengthening) as the speaker. His message was encouraging: Wenzel emphasized the role of civic engagement as a counter-narrative, as well as the importance of collaborations with new actors and the necessity of remaining optimistic, even in these times!

Various workshops and a joint review of the 2026 annual plan rounded out the program. Beyond the official agenda, there was ample opportunity for networking and exchange between volunteers and staff members. This year, new elections were on the agenda: New Presidential Boardmembers and the representatives of the Members' Associations (MV) to the Board of Trustees of the Terre des Hommes to be elected.

Bilal Hasaf (Herford), Servet Karakoyun (Heidelberg), Shanti Normann (Montabaur), Philipp Sammer (Berlin), and Moska Sediqi (Herford) serve as members of the Presidential Board . On the eve of the event, we said goodbye to four long-time companions: Regina Hewer (Presidential BoardChair of Presidential Board), Ingrid Mendonca (Regional Coordinator for South Asia), and Christian Ramm (Press Officer, who will retire in June 2026).

It was an inspiring event, and we are already looking forward to the General Assembly on the last weekend of September 2026 in Hanover.
