Under the motto "Defend Renewable Energies!" , thousands of people took to the streets at Heumarkt. Our Terre des Hommes Cologne group was also present. They made a stand for consistent climate protection and a sustainable energy policy. Because children have the right to a healthy environment!
The demonstration was organized by a broad alliance of climate, environmental, and social organizations. Among other things, they demanded a rapid expansion of renewable energies, social solutions for affordable heating, and an end to new dependencies on fossil fuels. For the Cologne group, the perspective of children's rights is clearly central. With the slogan "Children are responsible for their parents," they drew attention to the responsibility that today's political decisions have for future generations. The climate crisis threatens fundamental rights of children worldwide – including the right to health, protection, education, and a livable future.
