Penzberg: Winter fun with Terre des Hommes

They pricked up their ears and listened intently – about a dozen children listened to the fairy tales told by Uwe Herrmann from the Terre des Hommes group Penzberg-Pfaffenwinkel in the library. The fascinating aspect: fairy tales deal with children's rights and how these rights can be violated. A wonderful opportunity to start a conversation with children about children's rights. The approximately 50 participating children were also able to get involved in sports and creative activities at the Penzberg "Winter Fun" event.

The new "Winter Fun" event in Penzberg originated from the idea of developing an alternative to the resource-intensive "Ice Fun" event, an artificial ice rink in the town square. Councilwoman Anette Völker-Rasor organized a survey among children, asking for suggestions for alternatives should the Ice Fun event no longer be possible. Uwe Herrmann assisted with the subsequent evaluation of the more than 400 responses and was impressed by the submitted ideas and comments, such as "It's great that we were asked for our opinion!" This particularly motivated him to implement one of the submitted suggestions related to fairy tales. A successful premiere that may well be repeated next winter.
