Members' trip to Colombia

Welcome to the blog about the Colombia trip 2024

 

After six years, a members' trip is taking place again in 2024. We're going to Colombia, where we'll Terre des Hommes projects in and around Bogotá and Cartagena. There are eight of us members who will be taking you along on the journey. In this blog, we'll share our personal impressions and experiences:

Conclusion

Today our members' trip through Colombia comes to an end. And since we're in the Caribbean, a visit to the beach is a must.

February 15: La Popa Mountain and the Cerro Fresco and Angola neighborhoods on the lagoon.

The Bay of Cartagena is connected to the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea by rivers and lagoons. We will meet with children who live along the streets of the Cano Juan Angola lagoon. Read more.

February 14: Visiting the Funsarep Youth Center

. Today we visited the youth and family center of our partner organization, Funsarep, in Cartagena. This partner organization has been empowering children for 37 years. Read more.

February 12/13: From the Andes to the Caribbean

. From the Andes to the Caribbean. Off to the hot, humid climate. From the city, after a short stopover in Cartagena, we headed inland. An overwhelming surprise. That's how the experiences of the TDH Colombia travel group on February 12 and 13 can be summarized.

February 10/11: Project visit in Pereira, Carnival in Barranquilla, and sightseeing in Bogotá.

Over the weekend, we travel in smaller groups and gain new insights into both the beautiful and the difficult aspects of life in Colombia.

February 9: Information about Latin America and project visit to Humanidad Vigente

. We receive detailed information about the situation and our project work in Latin America and visit the human rights organization Humanidad Vigente.

February 8: We visit the Benposta project.

The young people at Benposta are shaping their future and finally have dreams they want to live. This is impressive and gives us hope.

February 7: City tour of Bogotá and visit to our partner "Taller Sur" ("Southern Workshop").

We discuss with our partners the question of how artistic and cultural education can contribute to a peaceful, just, and harmonious coexistence.

February 6: Visit to the Caracoli district in Bogotá.

We visit two houses of the Fundación Creciendo Unidos. Both project sites are located in a neighborhood south of Bogotá considered a social hotspot.

February 5: Day One

We visit the new Terre des Hommes facility in Bogotá and speak with the management of our partner organization, CENSAT.

February 4: First Impressions of Colombia

We have arrived in Bogotá. On our first day, we acclimatize and explore the city. Here are our first impressions…
