Tunisia and Libya are key transit countries for many refugees on their way to Europe. But instead of protection and opportunities, children in particular experience exclusion, insecurity, and severe restrictions on their rights. In Tunisia, they are frequently denied access to education, medical care, and protection, while civil society organizations that provide support are criminalized. In Libya, political instability and a lack of legal structures also significantly exacerbate the situation. Refugees there are subjected to systematic human rights violations, and many are arbitrarily detained.
