What do children want?

Children in the West Bank often want the same things as children everywhere in the world.
But not all of them have the same opportunities to realize their dreams.

Children are children. Everywhere in the world. But not all of them have the same opportunities.

We asked children in the West Bank what they wished for.

Their answers show that they dream of very different things. But they all wish for a future in which they can grow up happy and carefree.

"I want to become a dentist and give people a beautiful smile."
Mohsen, 8 years old
"I want to get good grades and make my parents happy."
Yasmeen, 11 years old
"I wish I had a brother."
Aseel 12 years
"I hope that my mother gets through her operation well and is no longer in pain."
Jana , 11 years old

Just normal wishes, really

But everyday life is different.

In the Al-Amari camp, a settlement for Palestinian refugees in the West Bank, more than 15,000 people live in extremely cramped conditions, including approximately 5,000 children. There is a lack of space, water, electricity, and medical care. Especially for children, there are hardly any places where they can play safely, learn, and simply be children.

Conflicts and insecurity in the region shape their daily lives. This makes places where children can find protection, community, and support all the more important.

Children in Al-Amari have wishes and dreams just like children everywhere else in the world. They deserve a chance to shape their own future.
