Help the earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria
The number of dead and injured in southeastern Turkey and Syria is rising hourly following the devastating earthquake. Rapid assistance is now needed to help the survivors. As a first step Terre des Hommes is providing a total of €250,000 in emergency aid.
Thousands of people in southeastern Turkey have lost family and friends in an instant. They stand before the ruins of their homes, desperate and freezing. They need tents and blankets, warm clothing, food, clean drinking water, and medicine. Terre des Hommes is working with its local partner organization, Support to Life , which is familiar with the situation on the ground and is caring for those affected and the many traumatized children.
Terre des Hommes is also launching humanitarian aid operations in Aleppo, Syria. Millions of Syrian civil war refugees live in the region, having suffered for twelve years under the war and already dependent on international aid for survival. The supply situation is dire, and the full extent of the destruction is still largely unknown. Here, our sister organization, Terre des Hommes Italy, is providing over 6,000 people in six collective shelters in Aleppo with urgently needed blankets and mattresses, as well as hygiene products, lamps, and baby supplies.
Terre des Hommes will expand its emergency aid in Syria and Turkey as quickly as possible to help more earthquake victims. We urgently request donations for this purpose.
