Create publicity
Children's rights are particularly easy to violate when no one is watching and no one takes the children's side. We pay attention and publicize violations of children's rights. We receive many inquiries from schools, youth centers, church communities, adult education centers, and other organizations.
We organize exhibitions, information booths, interactive events, and lectures. We enjoy brainstorming and creatively implementing new ideas for activities.
We make sure to provide the local press with good material so that the newspapers will pick up on our concerns and report on our projects. Because we want to encourage even more people in our region to stand up for children's rights.
Collecting donations
We want to support Terre des Hommes ' projects with as much money as possible. Therefore, there will be a donation box at every lecture and information stand.
Reading festival with book bazaar
Until 2023, our main source of income was our "Reading Festival with Book Bazaar," which we organized annually in Ganderkesee on World Book Day in April. Now, hand-knitted socks, made and donated by many dedicated supporters, are the focus of our fundraising sales. We participate in various markets in the region, such as the autumn market in Ganderkesee and the Festival of Lights in Delmenhorst.
Santa Claus
Our Terre des Hommes Santa Claus is also very popular. He brings gifts to children and adults in December, especially during the Christmas holidays, and collects donations along the way. He not only brings joy to children here, but also contributes to the well-being of many children worldwide. Incidentally, he is also available in the original Santa Claus version, complete with mitre and shepherd's staff.

Involve young people
Participation is an important children's right! Children and young people are involved in "children's rights teams" at Terre des Hommes .
Unfortunately, there is currently no dedicated children's rights team in Delmenhorst or Ganderkesee. However, every autumn we recruit children and young people who, as part of the "Changing Perspectives - Street Child for a Day" campaign, slip into the role of a street child for a day and raise funds for Terre des Hommes ' street child projects by offering services such as shining shoes or selling small, handcrafted items.
Our promotional highlights
Every year, our very own Santa Claus, or rather Saint Nicholas, Daniel, brings joy to children, families, and seniors. He delights not only children and seniors locally, but also people all over the world, as he collects donations that benefit the children in our projects.
Each visit lasts about 15 to 20 minutes. The holy man, a representative of a children's charity, naturally doesn't carry a switch, but instead a thick golden book containing information about the children. Regina, our Santa Claus manager, collects this information beforehand from the clients and prepares it.
The minimum fee for the gift-giving is €20; Daniel is of course happy to accept donations in addition.
We are always fully booked on Christmas Eve. Some families have been coming to us for years and immediately book again for the following year. But we still have some free dates on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, as well as on other days in December, for example for schools and kindergartens, or company parties.

It has now become a good tradition: Every year at the beginning of the year, we are guests with an exhibition in the town hall of the municipality of Ganderkesee.
The topics are as diverse as the situation of children and the project work of terre des hommes : from children's rights, child labor and internal refugees to environmental children's rights and trauma support. Where possible, we try to make the exhibitions accessible to broad audiences through additional activities such as guided tours or questionnaires.
At the town hall, our exhibitions reach many people who otherwise have little interest in children's rights issues. Press representatives and local decision-makers also come to learn more and take the opportunity to talk with us.
Every year we get children and young people to step into the shoes of a street child for a day: confirmands, members of the children's and youth parliament or the youth fire brigade.
This gives them the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the situation of street children and to raise money for terre des hommes street children projects by selling homemade items or services.

We collect stamps, coins, leftover holiday money, phone cards, medals, and similar items for the Hanover-based terre des hommes group. The group specializes in marketing collectibles to benefit terre des hommes . The proceeds primarily support projects for children in need in Africa.
