Children on the run - participation of the Freiburg working group in the Terre des Hommes day of action

On November 22nd, by participating in Terre des Hommes ' annual nationwide day of action in Germany, we drew attention to the plight of refugee children. Worldwide, almost 50 million children are currently displaced – more than at any time since World War II. They are fleeing war, violence, persecution, poverty, or natural disasters. Far too often, children are separated from their families, experience violent pushbacks, arbitrary detention, abuse, or exploitation. In some cases, they are deprived of access to education, medical care, and a safe home for years.

How does Terre des Hommes help?

Through our projects, we provide emergency aid worldwide, create safe havens, and enable education and psychosocial support for refugee children and their families. On the ground, we work with local partner organizations that accompany and support children upon arrival. Together with these organizations and the young people themselves, we put pressure on politicians to ensure that the rights and well-being of refugee children are respected.
