Our work

"To be human means to feel responsibility, to feel shame in the face of hardship, even if one is apparently not to blame for it, to be proud of the success of others, to feel that one is contributing with one's own stone to the building of the earth."
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

For an Earth of humanity

Terre des Hommes is committed to helping children suffering from poverty, exploitation, or violence. Together with project partners Terre des Hommes seeks solutions, helps street children and child soldiers, combats child labor, and advocates for children's rights. Our group raises funds and participates in public awareness campaigns to make a personal contribution to helping children in need.

Our promotional highlights

Every year in Würzburg, an Advent bazaar takes place during the pre-Christmas season. Various groups and associations sell their wares around the town hall. The city provides a Christmas market stall to local organizations, whose proceeds benefit a good cause. Our group rents this stall for one or two days each year to sell all sorts of homemade delicacies, such as jams and dried fruits, handcrafted Christmas decorations, Terre des Hommes Christmas cards, and much more. 100% of the profits go to Terre des Hommes projects!

Every year we participate in the children's festival of the city of Würzburg and the municipality of Rimpar. Our various activities, such as the boat fishing, helium balloons, face painting, and sand ball making, are always very popular. Thanks to the excellent teamwork of our group members, we are able to bring joy to many children with our games each year. The organizers are also delighted that we are involved and consider our participation a wonderful addition.

We regularly participate in various flea markets in and around Würzburg to raise funds for Terre des Hommes projects. For example, we sell jewelry that we received through a fundraising appeal. Thanks to our generous donors, we have received a wide variety of beautiful rings, necklaces, bracelets, and watches, including unique pieces such as antique treasures and gold and silver jewelry.

A large portion has already been sold; we will be offering the remaining stock for sale at other flea markets. We are also happy to accept new donations for this purpose. If you have any special pieces of jewelry at home that you no longer need, please feel free to contact us by email.

100 percent of the proceeds from our flea market sales go to Terre des Hommes projects.

Terre des Hommes Germany supports numerous projects worldwide that help refugee children. In addition to supporting Terre des Hommes projects, it is also important to us as Terre des Hommes group in Würzburg to make a contribution here locally.

Since the end of 2015, we have been in contact with volunteers at the games club of the community accommodation in Würzburg. From 2015 to 2018, we regularly offered various games activities there to bring additional joy to the children.

During our first visit to the playgroup, which coincided with Carnival season, we offered a mask-making activity. The children could choose their favorite mask from various templates, such as a bear, cat, crocodile, lion, and Spiderman, and decorate it themselves. The children participated with great enthusiasm, which pleased us very much. We received invaluable support with the crafting from numerous dedicated students.

On subsequent visits, we made delicious popcorn, drew outside with sidewalk chalk, or crafted hedgehog pictures in the fall. Our last activity together, making colorful sand balls from balloons, was also clearly a lot of fun for the children.

Our visits are currently on hold. However, we can well imagine resuming them in the future and bringing smiles back to the children's faces.

Until 2018, our Terre des Hommes collections took place three times a year in Würzburg's city center. Each collection had a specific theme: at Easter, we organized the Easter egg collection, where all donors received an Easter egg as a thank you; in the summer, we held our rose collection; and at Christmas, the orange collection. For each collection, the donations were gathered by students from various Würzburg schools. Currently, our collections are on hold. However, we hope to resume them soon in close cooperation with the Würzburg schools.
