We do that
In our group meetings, in addition to our internal training, we often focus on organizing information booths, exhibitions, lectures , etc.
Terre des Hommes finances the vast majority of its projects through donations, which is why we also aim to raise money for our projects through various events. To this end, we have recently organized several concerts. We also have a sales booth at the Freiburg Christmas market every year. We are also looking for sponsors in the region. We were able to secure a generous donation from the generator manufacturer Wasserkraft Volk for a drinking water project in Vietnam.
For International Children's Day, we regularly participate in the events at the Seepark grounds, offering activities for children. We also visit school classesto provide age-appropriate programs about the living conditions of children in our projects. For example, one of our colleagues recently developed a beautifully designed "Journey to the Philippines," which uses photos to playfully take children on a "project trip" and familiarize them with the country, its culture, and the realities of life there.
Actions
We regularly visit schools in Freiburg and inform students about Terre des Hommes ' work, such as child labor and children's rights. This usually takes place during visits from project partners.
Recently, Doris has been particularly active in schools. She painted banners on the topic of children's environmental rights with students of various age groups. This took place, among other things, as part of the VHS banner exhibition.
If you are interested in us visiting your school, please feel free to contact us.
We have an information stand at various events in Freiburg, for example at "Freiburg stimmt ein", events together with the One World Forum, at World Children's Day at Seepark, at the Christmas market and at many other events.
Every year on World Children's Day, the city of Freiburg organizes a large children's festival in the Seepark area. We always have an information and games booth there and have offered a wide variety of activities: for example, how a street child lives, how to make seed bombs for biodiversity, children's rights puzzles, and much more.
We can always use more volunteers to help staff our information booth. If you would like to support us, please get in touch.
Together with the Latin American Choir and the Susi Choir, we have already held several concerts. The Latin American Choir has also provided excellent vocal support at exhibition openings. Many thanks to everyone involved.
We often use action days or visits from the projects as an opportunity to offer lectures on the relevant topics.
For the second year in a row, in July of this year we provided information on the topic of "Children's right to a healthy environment" at a neighborhood festival in Vauban, informing the public about this and other topics from Terre des Hommes .
We support the climate movement "Fridays For Future" by participating in demonstrations by bicycle and on foot.
February 12th is the International Day Against Child Soldiers. On this day, all working groups are called upon to protest against the use of children and young people under the age of 18 as soldiers.
More information on this topic can be found here.
Our group regularly tries to be represented at MUNDOlogia with an information booth and to inform the public about topics such as children's rights, child labor, etc.
“MUNDOlogia” is the Spanish word for world knowledge. In a somewhat different slide show presentation, different cultures and countries are explored, but also the lives of individuals and their unique stories.
