Stifter assembly in Wiesbaden
25 years of the Hommes Community Foundation Terre
Every year the community foundation Terre des Hommes invites all founders to the donor meeting - a very good opportunity to learn more about the funded projects and to exchange ideas with like -minded people. On the first weekend in June they met in beautiful Wiesbaden.
Traditionally there is a small supporting program on the day before the actual session. This includes visiting a Terre of the Hommes project. This year the Steingarten day care center in Wiesbaden was visited. The daycare center is managed by the long -standing partner organization Xenia - Intercultural Projects gGmbH, the main shareholder of which is Hommes. Managing Director Dagmar Hansen and her colleagues led the visitors through the premises and then gave an insight into the daily project work over coffee and cake. Due to the high number of families with a migration background in the catchment area of the daycare center, a variety of programs for children and their parents in the area of language, socio -cultural handling and help in bureaucratic concerns are offered.
The nearby Eberbach monastery was then visited, in which the film "The Name of the Rose" was shot. The participants were guided through the old walls, and the day ended with a dinner together in the monastery restaurant.
"The confidence and courage of our Ukrainian partner organizations impressed me deeply"
The actual donor meeting took place the next day, on which the participants expected a report on the Terre des Hommes aid project in Ukraine. Joshua Hofert, Board of Directors Communication for the Association and the Community Foundation Terre des Hommes, described the founder the latest impressions from his trip to Ukraine in the past week. He described his experiences as follows: »The confidence and courage of our Ukrainian partner organizations impressed me deeply. They evacuate children and families from front areas, provide them with the most necessary, perform trauma therapy and build up schools and youth centers. In Chernihiv I visited one of our projects in which an art therapist was working with traumatized children. Despite the proximity to the Belarusian border, the children's center is a largely safe space free of fear, sirens and air alarms. In the end, a six -year -old girl asked the psychologist: Is it really true that you are just about helping children like us, not for money? You are so good people ... Experiences like this give us the strength to continue the strength at Terre des Hommes to strengthen children and their rights in Ukraine and 44 other countries - despite all the global wars and crises. «
The agenda also contained the reports on the foundation's finances or the activities of the Board of Trustees. The end was then initiated-the occasion was the anniversary of the community foundation, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.
