The world risk overview of the alliance development helps

Every year, millions of people worldwide are affected by natural disasters that are triggered by extreme natural events such as earthquakes, storms or floods. However, the risk that a natural event develops into a disaster depends not only on its strength. The social framework and the ability to react quickly in the event of a disaster are also crucial. Companies with fragile infrastructure, high poverty and insufficient access to health services are particularly vulnerable.

Prevent natural disasters

Extreme natural events cannot be prevented, but the catastrophic risk can be reduced by combating poverty, promoting education and health and precautionary measures. Earthquake-proof building, early warning systems and investments in climate and environmental protection are important steps to be better prepared for nature events.

World risk overview and world risk index

The world risk, which has been published in cooperation with the Institute for Peace Security Law and Humanitarian International Law (IFHV) of the Ruhr University Bochum since 2018, highlights these relationships. It contains the world risk index and focuses on a focus topic annually. The aim of the report is to analyze global relationships between natural events, climate change, development and precaution and derive future -oriented measures for aid organizations, politics and the media.
