Western Sahara: Perspectives for young people

Since 1975, the unresolved conflict over Western Sahara has forced approximately 160,000 Sahrawis to live in Algerian camps. Conditions are extreme: temperatures reach up to 50 degrees Celsius, and resources are scarce. A lack of future prospects leaves many young people despairing. Terre des Hommes is working in the Smara refugee camp. In 21 centers, young people learn languages, crafts, and gardening, thus creating new opportunities for themselves.
