Federal government has to keep promise!

Afghan families in Pakistan endangered

In Pakistan, over 3,000 Afghans are currently waiting for the exhibition of their visa papers for the departure - although they have already received admission commitments for Germany. Among them are former local forces who have worked with German emergency services and who are now threatening considerable dangers to life and life.

The reason for the long waiting time is that the security test and visa provision on the part of the Federal Republic often take several months. Too long, because last week Pakistani security authorities began to deport those affected to Afghanistan.

As a result, people are in great fear, many no longer leave their accommodations, a young woman reports:

»The uncertainty that we are exposed has brought painful memories of the dark days in Kabul. Returning to Afghanistan is a decision for death. For us, the only idea is hell - an uncertain future full of extreme dangers that neither live nor work, nor does meaning offer. "

Together with other organizations, Terre des Hommes therefore directed an appeal to the Federal Foreign Office on January 13, 2025:

Appeal to the Federal Foreign Office:

Faster visa processing for Afghan refugees in Pakistan with reception commitment for Germany

In Pakistan, over 3,000 Afghans are currently waiting for Germany to issue their visa papers for departure to Germany with an admission of admission. The security test and visa provision often last several months. Too long, because last week Pakistani security authorities began to deport those affected to Afghanistan. Among them are former local forces who threaten considerable dangers to life and life in Afghanistan. The German authorities are responsible for promptly expying those seeking protection out of the danger zone.

Germany must meet its responsibility towards these people who have campaigned for western values in Afghanistan. In confidence in the admission commitments granted, those affected not only have left and well left behind, but have to fear for their lives more than ever when a return to Afghanistan.

The signing organizations of this appeal therefore call for the accelerated processing of the visa applications and implementation of the security test to prevent further deportations of Afghans with granted commitment to Germany.
