"We need staying power"

Ukraine

Help for the victims of the war

The pictures from Ukraine have been shocking us for seven months: more and more people have to flee from the bombs, food and medication are scarce, hundreds of schools and daycare centers are destroyed or damaged. Terre des Hommes is active in Ukraine and the neighboring countries to support children and their families affected by the war.

A few days after the start of the Russian attack war, Terre des Hommes started the first aid measures. It was the prelude to a long -term commitment. Or as an employee of a Polish partner organization puts it: "Unfortunately, the war will continue - we need staying power."

Help with a donation

Terre des Hommes delivers food, medication and hygiene products. With the support of our partner organizations Vostok SOS and the Medical Aid Committee Zakarpatty, it is possible to bring relief goods to almost all regions of the country.

Terre des Hommes is supported by the Polish organization Dr. Clown that brings medication for orphanages and evacuated children to Dnipro in Central Lucraine. In the meantime, we not only provide humanitarian aid, but also promote measures in the field of education and in the psychological support of children. Psychosocial accompaniment in particular is intended to help girls and boys process their traumatic war driving. Many children have experienced the bombings in protective cellars or had to see how relatives were injured or killed. Vacation camps are now aimed at these children, which are supposed to create new strength and confidence with common free time experiences.

Help for refugees in neighboring countries and in Germany

In Poland there is a focus of the work in building educational measures and help for the psychosocial care of children. With our long -standing partners FFIS (Forum for Social Initiative Foundation), school -related leisure activities and excursions are offered for Ukrainian children and adolescents. Accompanying this, there are training measures for teachers in the field of crisis intervention and trauma pedagogy.

In Germany, Terre of the Hommes promotes social and psychological programs for refugee children and young people from Ukraine. This includes advisory services in Ukrainian to help the affected children with orientation in the new environment. We also support the search for child -friendly accommodation options and take care of further training programs for specialists to prepare them for dealing with traumatized children.
