Protecting children in travel destinations

"Two heads are better than one"

20 Years of Partnership with Terre des Hommes – AERTiCKET Doubles Donations: For two decades, the AERTiCKET Group has been working with the children's rights organization Terre des Hommes to combat the sexual exploitation of children in travel destinations.

Your customers can also support this commitment by donating one euro per passenger when booking flights through Cockpit Booking World. In this anniversary year, AERTiCKET will double every euro donated – so your donation will have twice the impact. Join us!

Together against sexual exploitation

Child abuse is a crime worldwide – not only at home, but also while traveling and on vacation. Nevertheless, children and young people are forced into prostitution: hardship and poverty often leave families with little other choice.

In Southeast Asia, Terre des Hommes supports direct aid for girls and boys as well as programs for the prevention of sexual exploitation.

Project examples

With the support of travelers, travel agencies, and the AERTiCKET Group, projects worldwide addressing this important issue are being promoted. The following projects in Thailand, the Philippines, and Cambodia exemplify the diverse activities undertaken for the affected children and young people:

To protect children and young people who have been victims of sexual violence in Thailand, the partner organization "Center for the Protection of Children's Rights Foundation" offers comprehensive care and support in Thailand. The project takes place in four regions, including the popular tourist areas of Krabi and Chiang Rai.

Through an emergency hotline, affected children and young people receive immediate help and both medical and psychological support. The protection of the victims is always the top priority. In addition, the organization is committed to improving awareness and strengthening the child protection system in Thailand.

Project duration: November 2022 to October 2025

Besides idyllic islands, long sandy beaches, and a diver's paradise, the Philippines, seemingly a paradise, also has its dark side. Poverty and unemployment are the main reasons why girls and women end up in prostitution and are sexually exploited. Many of them are minors and are mercilessly exposed to violence, abuse, and health risks. Terre des Hommes , together with its local partner organization Talikala, is actively working to protect these women and girls. Through various support services, they receive assistance and are simultaneously educated about their rights.

Planned project duration: July 2024 to June 2026

Although prostitution is officially banned in Cambodia, the trade in "human goods" is widespread, and large cities like Phnom Penh attract sex tourists and pedophiles.

In collaboration with its local partner organization APLE, based in Phnom Penh, Terre des Hommes is committed to combating human trafficking and the sexual exploitation of children and young people, both online and offline. The affected children receive not only legal support but also comprehensive care. Additionally, the project offers the opportunity to complete vocational training to find a sustainable way out of prostitution.

Planned project duration: June 2024 to May 2026
