Volkswagen employees support children worldwide

A chance to play

The Volkswagen Group Works Council has been cooperating with Terre des Hommes for more than 25 years. Together, we support projects for disadvantaged girls and boys at the Volkswagen Group's production sites in Argentina, Brazil, India, Mexico, South Africa, Kenya, Thailand, and Germany.

About the cooperation

Around 200,000 employees of the Volkswagen workforce in Germany have been committed to realizing children's rights since 1998. This is the oldest and greatest cooperation of this kind in Germany. VfL Wolfsburg also contributes to this cooperation with donations.

Initially, the employees in Germany donated an hourly wage every year, now the cents behind the comma on their salary bills every month. They also organize a variety of other actions such as benefit football games or information stands and exhibitions. Since its foundation in 1998, more than 150,000 children and adolescents have benefited from the projects.

A chance to play  aims to empower children and young people through play, sport and art and to create a greater understanding in society of how enormously important play is for the healthy development of children.
