With Trump's "peace plan," Israel and Hamas have agreed to a ceasefire and the implementation of the first phase of the plan. This development offers hope – but it must not be seen as a mere respite from the Israeli attack.
The agreed plan includes:
- the opening of five border crossings for humanitarian aid,
- the release of all hostages and Palestinian prisoners,
- the partial withdrawal of the Israeli military from the Gaza Strip.
After two years of war and immeasurable suffering, this means hope – especially for the children and families in the Gaza Strip. But the humanitarian situation remains catastrophic: children are starving, injured, traumatized, and urgently in need of medical assistance.
True peace can only be based on justice, human rights, and international law – not on short-term political interests or unequal power relations. Israel's plans to establish a "security zone" on Palestinian land only strengthen the occupation. Any sustainable peace plan must include Palestinians on an equal footing, respect their rights, and lead to an end to the Israeli occupation.
Help for children in Gaza urgently needed
The humanitarian situation in Gaza remains dire even after the ceasefire. Together with our partners, we are providing vital aid to children and families.

While acute emergency aid saves lives, our partner organizations are also working long-term on providing water and sanitation projects and rebuilding medical services so that children can experience not just the next day, but a secure future. Even if no child in Gaza goes hungry, the suffering will not be over: We demand lasting responsibility—for justice, freedom, and the dignity of all people.
Our demands
A limited ceasefire is not enough. For a just and lasting peace, the following steps must be implemented:
- Immediate expansion of humanitarian aid – unimpeded access to food, medicine, fuel and reconstruction materials.
- Compliance with the ceasefire – no further military operations or bombings.
- Withdrawal of the Israeli military – restoration of basic infrastructure and return of all internally displaced persons.
- End of the occupation policy – in Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
- Accountability instead of impunity – all war crimes and human rights violations must be investigated.
