Making hope visible
While Afghan women and girls have been pushed out of the public eye since the Taliban's return to power, the "Hope in Darkness" project gives them space to raise their voices. Despite great personal risk, young Afghan women have captured their experiences, feelings, and hopes with brush and pen. The touching artworks and texts were brought to Germany through secret channels and will be presented to a wider public exhibition
The exhibition shows how women in Afghanistan lose their freedom and self-determination due to brutal restrictions – and how they still find ways to express themselves.
