Global Action Month 2025

Terre des Hommes International Youth Network

Children and young people worldwide are committed to environmental and climate protection.

Every November, the International Youth Network (IYN) of Terre des Hommes organizes Global Action Month (GAM). Around the anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, children and young people take environmental and climate protection into their own hands to demand their right to a healthy environment.

They are sending a simple, clear message: Climate and environmental protection is also and above all about their future, their livelihoods and their health.

Together against the consequences of climate change

The climate crisis is a children's rights crisis. And in many of the participating countries, it is already a tangible reality. The Global Action Month 2025 was therefore themed "Youth Rising: Building Climate Resilience Together ."

While the countries of the world were simultaneously discussing ways out of the climate crisis at the 30th World Climate Conference in Brazil , the members of the youth network showed that they were not just watching and waiting for decisions: they wanted to take action – and were initiating the change themselves.

Global Action Month 2025 in numbers

"Global Action Month shows me that young people don't just watch change happen – we can lead it ourselves. GAM connects our voices and actions around the world."

Actions at a glance

How do you raise awareness for environmental and climate protection? The International Youth Network got creative: with radio shows, demonstrations, clean-up and litter collection campaigns, new community gardens, waste and composting stations, meetings with local politicians, tree planting, and much more. In total, children and young people launched more than 390 activities to highlight their right to a healthy, clean, and intact environment.

These and many more images – including brief descriptions of the campaigns – are collected on the campaign page:
