"Together for democracy" - demo in Berlin
Berlin, February 10, 2025 – The children's rights organization Terre des Hommes is joining the action alliance "Together for Democracy" and will be campaigning for democracy and social cohesion with a demonstration on February 10 in Berlin.
"Like everywhere else in the world, our liberal democracy in Germany is coming under pressure from right-wing extremist forces. It is important that we, together with our allies, confront this threat today and now and advocate for an open, democratic, and solidarity-based society," says Joshua Hofert, board spokesperson of Terre des Hommes . "For us as a children's rights organization, the following applies: Children growing up today need an environment in which they experience democratic values on a small scale – in the family, the neighborhood, and school. This way, they learn to form opinions, participate, and have a say in a non-violent environment and become aware of their rights as children and young people. Children's rights and democratic values are inseparable. They are the foundation for the well-being of children – today and tomorrow."
